Graffiti A Way To Create Awareness Amongst People

Jul 7, 2010

The word graffiti originated from Italy and it basically means words written on the walls or posters carved on the walls. Now graffiti is often associated with the likes of Banksy but it’s an art form that’s been around for thousands of years. In good old days, graffiti were carved on the walls using sharp instruments, coal and charcoal. But nowadays these graffiti are expressed more in the form of messages to people. It has become a form of expression where people take the help of masses to view their opinion on a sheet of cloth or on a stretch of wall. If expressed in a bad way it creates a very negative impact. I have seen people depicting pictures of Epic stories like the Mahabharata and Ramayana in graffiti form on the walls. This is also a way of keeping the walls clean as well as creates a very positive and harmonious atmosphere. People in recent times have taken it in their stride to voice their opinion in the form of graffiti and it has helped the media and the government a lot in creating awareness also.
